Following these post operative instructions will minimize your discomfort and aid in healing.
Expect some swelling and mild discomfort after this procedure.Place ice pack over the side of your jaw immediately after surgery.
- Keep the ice pack in place for at least 20 minutes out of every hour for the rest of the day.
- Do not rinse for the 1 st 24 hours, after 24 hours use the periodex rinse (if applicable). Rinse very gently without swishing. Continue this procedure for two weeks, 4-5 times per day.
- Do not brush or floss in the area for 2 weeks
- Eat soft, bland food such as eggs, yogurt, applesauce, pudding, etc.
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages .
- Do not smoke it will delay the process of the healing
There is usually minimal bleeding following the implant procedure. Leave the gauze or packing that we placed for at least 2 hours. If you notice a small amount of bleeding from the area you can place another moistened gauze or moistened tea bag over the area while applying light pressure and keep your head elevated.
In summery, use common sense in caring for the surgical area during the initial healing period. The implant will be an excellent service to you if it heals properly. If followed, the above steps will help with a speedy recovery.

Remember your follow-up visit:
It is advisable to return for a postoperative visit to make certain healing is progressing satisfactory. A follow-up visit will be scheduled. In the meantime, maintain a healthful diet, observe rules for proper oral hygiene, and visit your dentist for regular checkups.
