Q: Do I need a referral from a dentist to schedule an appointment?
A: No, but however a referral can be helpful to communicate what procedure your general dentist is requesting.
Q:Do I need to have x-rays taken?
A: In most cases, current dental x-rays are required in order to thoroughly examine the problematic areas.
Q:Do I need someone to drive me home after surgery?
A: If Dr. Cusumano has scheduled you to be sedated, you will need someone to bring you to and from your appointment.

Q:Can I eat before Surgery?
A: If your appointment is going to be a procedure in which you will be sedated you are unable to eat 6-8 hours prior to surgery.
If your procedure requires a local anesthetic you may eat normally.
Q:I have insurance, so do I have to pay on the day of surgery?
A: We will file your insurance as a courtesy to you. However your down payment
will be based upon you deductible and benefits with your insurance company.
Q:Do you accept payment plans?
A: All payment plans are done through Care Credit.
Q:How much pain will I be in?
A: Every patient and procedure is different, you can expect your pain and swelling to peak in 2-3 days. The pain is usually very well controlled with medication that will be prescribed.
Q:What kind of food can I eat?
A: Following the surgery, you should stick to a soft foods diet.
For Example:
- Pudding
- Jello
- Yogert
- Apple sauce
- Mashed Potatoes
- Ice cream
- Crushed Fruit
- Soft pasta
- Eggs
Q:Can I stay with my child during surgery?
A: Parents of small children can be with their child before the surgery to ask the doctor any questions they might have. We do not allow non-patients in the surgical area.
